Happy Days

With the Summer Holidays finally here, what better than to share a bit of beach play in the sunshine with this small section taken from a larger painting - I really hope that we see some good weather! I loved playing with the reflection in this subject .

This month has been busy, but wonderful. My paintings are back in East Lambrook Manor Gardens until 31st August 2010 and I am gearing up for Somerset Arts Week in September. My tuition sessions have been particularly rewarding and I've enjoyed the comments from my students, many who found the wet-in-wet style rewarding.

I wish everyone a very happy summer and, if you're going away, don't forget to take your brushes!!

Fast Motion

Fast Motion - This is how life feels at the moment!

I recently received the wonderful news that a painting of mine had been chosen by the editor of "The Artist" magazine to appear in their August Edition (Apple Blossom). I then received a lovely email from a reader of the magazine and I have subsequently managed to arrange a workshop in Harpenden, Hertfordshire - quite a way from Somerset but my family will smile!!

I have made a few decisions regarding plans for 2011, there are so many exciting opportunites and so many avenues to explore, life definitely is moving at quite a pace!

I'm demonstrating Watercolours at Yandles, Martock on Saturday 17th May if anyone wants to come along and say hello!

Making Friends - Original Watercolour 16" x 12"
going to Auction at an event in Suffolk

I received a telephone call last week to let me know that a painting that I had donated had been auctioned at an event in Scotland. I was thrilled to find out that the painting had reached a sizeable sum to go to a variety of charities including "Combat Stress", "Help for Heroes" and "Erskine Recovery Centres".

The event organiser explained to me that her life is not focused on raising money, but to "be there" for our soldiers and their families. As she speaks from the heart, she has the ability to reach out and touch the hearts of others which ensures success in the events she organises.

I am totally humbled when I hear of the stories of great bravery and huge loss - I wish I could do more................

Anyone for Tennis

Life is unbelievably hectic at the moment, not necessarily to do with painting, but more with all the sport that is "happening" at the moment. I couldn't resist a little bit of tennis action though! Having witnessed my son's tennis coach's serve the other day, I felt that I would like to capture the power somehow - just a sketch and an idea!

We're hopping between the tennis and football at the moment, great fun. Hope everyone else is enjoying the sporting events as much as we are!
