"Hugs"
It is with feelings of excitement and anticipation that I head towards the two week period that contains my solo watercolour exhibition and the Thanks-Giving Service at Wells Cathedral on 27th February 2010 in support of Help for Heroes. The exhibition preview is on 13th February 2-4pm, please come and share a glass of wine with me at the A2 Gallery in Wells
This painting "Hugs" is the final painting before the exhibition and will be exhibited in the Cathedral on the 27th. The little hand clutching the back of the jacket "says it all" for me. The painting has already been sold but will give guests at the cathedral a taste of painting they can expect to view at the gallery - 11 of which are available to purchase by silent auction with all proceeds going directly to Help for Heroes.
Thanks for looking!

Apples, Daffodils and Snowdrops - East Coker Village Hall

Welcome to my blog today and I'd like to say a huge thank you to my students today at East Coker Village Hall - a simple comment from someone saying "I'm inspired" makes the session so rewarding for me. (And I'm also quite proud that I managed navigate the alarm system to get in!)

As promised, here are a few images of the paintings from the morning. We painted both Apples and Daffodils using three different methods, wet-on-dry, dropping colour into plain water painted onto the paper and a complete wet-in-wet sketch with background.

At all times we were aware of where the light was coming from and careful to leave dry patches of paper where the light fell.

The repetition of painting the subject across a narrow strip of paper is something that I'd recommend, particularly with the apples (daffs may need a larger piece of paper!).

And, finally, the demonstration of the snowdrops, this is where I am at my happiest, water running free and fast "almost" out of control!

The next watercolour session at Barrington Village Hall is fully booked, but I have spaces at Long Load on 18th March 2010 and East Coker Village Hall on 16th June 2010. Please visit my website http://www.kayeparmenter.co.uk/ for full details.

Happy Painting!
